Mohagen Hansen was selected by Hennepin County to provide programming, space planning, and design for this unique concept which serves as a behavioral health triage clinic. The purpose of the center is to provide triage and assessment services to individuals who walk in or are brought in by law enforcement and although are not at imminent risk to themselves or others appear, they appear to have substance or mental health issues. Upon assessment, clients may be referred to the Withdrawal Management Program, the new Mental Health Crisis Stabilization Program, community-based social services, a hospital, or emergency room.

The goal of the center is to reduce the frequency of hospital emergency room visits and provide a lower-cost treatment alternative. Services support individuals through the coordination of multi-disciplinary approaches to care. The clinic consists of 13,000 USF on the first floor of the existing building located at 1800 Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis and shares the patient entrance with the Withdrawal Management Program and Mental Health Crisis Stabilization functions that are also located in the building. Meeting desperately needed mental health services within the urban core of Minneapolis, the clinic includes assessment and procedure rooms, a large comfortable waiting area, and additional staff support spaces.
