The Wayzata Memory Care project, is a 32,000-square-foot facility located in Wayzata, Minnesota. This development offers 80 residential units dedicated to high-acuity assisted living, specifically tailored to meet updated Minnesota construction requirements for memory and dementia care facilities. The design incorporates lengthy hallways that allow residents with memory issues to wander freely in a safe environment, large communal spaces to encourage social interaction, individualized care stations on each floor, and secure outdoor areas for residents to enjoy.
The project also includes in-house physical therapy services, a central laundry, and an open-air pavilion within a secured garden. Parking is primarily located behind the building to preserve the area’s aesthetic appeal. The design underwent multiple revisions based on community feedback, including lowering roof heights and adjusting the exterior color palette to better blend with the neighborhood.
