From Superfund to Super Hub: The Northern Stacks Transformation
Once a dormant Superfund site, the 122-acre area in Fridley, Minnesota, has been revitalized into Northern Stacks—a dynamic industrial campus that bridges historical significance with modern innovation. This ambitious redevelopment underscores the power of visionary design and strategic planning in reshaping communities.
Mohagen Hansen Architecture | Interiors collaborated with Hyde Development to reimagine the former BAE Systems site into Northern Stacks, an expansive industrial park comprising eight buildings and over 1.8 million square feet of space. The design features 24- to 32-foot clear height ceilings, catering to a diverse range of industries seeking accessible and adaptable facilities. The project's success has positioned Fridley as a competitive player in the industrial real estate market, attracting tenants like Kaufman Container, Heraeus Medical Components, and LKQ Corporation. Notably, Northern Stacks V received the NAIOP MN 2020 Award of Excellence in the Light Industrial – High Finish category, reflecting the project's commitment to quality and innovation.
