Indian Motorcycles: Blending Performance with Purpose
When MotoPrimo Motorsports set out to expand their existing facility in Lakeville, Minnesota, they envisioned more than just additional space—they sought to create a destination worthy of the Indian Motorcycles brand. Mohagen Hansen was brought on to design a two-level, 28,000-square-foot addition that would seamlessly integrate with the existing building while accommodating a new showroom, service area, and a large-scale storage facility tailored for motorsports.
A primary design challenge was ensuring the additionappeared as one unified structure with the original facility. Since theoriginal exterior materials were no longer available, the team meticulouslysourced complementary finishes that would deliver a seamless visual connection.Simultaneously, evolving energy codes and performance standards required athoughtful, modern approach to building systems, including improved airfiltration and energy efficiency. Linear lighting now softly highlights themain entries, while economical, LED lighting strategically placed for bothperformance and conservation, illuminates the interior. In the basement-levelstorage area, 20-foot ceilings accommodate tall racking systems, made morefunctional through motion-sensored lighting and white-painted walls to enhancebrightness without added energy demand.
