A Reverse Mullet of Culture and Function

Mohagen Hansen provided planning, architecture, and interior design services for MAS HVAC’s new headquarters in Maple Grove, MN. As a manufacturer of custom air handling units for hospitals, airports, and institutional facilities, MAS needed a space that could balance technical functionality with their lively, people-first culture.

From the beginning, MAS made it clear that culture was their top priority. With an internal mission of “100 Happy Employees,” they envisioned a workspace filled with natural light, built-in flexibility, and opportunities for connection. Inspired by their vibrant personality and collaborative spirit, we developed a design concept we call the “Reverse Mullet”: party in the front, business in the back. The result is a fresh, energetic environment where playful elements meet high-performing workspaces.
