Vibrant Connections: Revitalizing 50th & France
Located in the heart of Edina’s bustling 50th & France district, this mixed-use development reflects a strategic vision to enhance community vibrancy, walkability, and connectivity. Mohagen Hansen Architecture | Interiors led the planning and architectural design, coordinating multidisciplinary consultant services to bring this ambitious redevelopment to life. Blending retail, housing, and public space, the project elevates one of Edina’s most popular destinations.
The first and foundational phase of the project focused on the complete renovation and expansion of an existing 3-story parking ramp. Designed with cast-in-place concrete, the structure was vertically expanded by one level and horizontally extended on both ends at each floor, adding significant capacity and functionality. A key design feature includes integrated retail shell spaces in the horizontal expansion, allowing for future mixed-use flexibility. With 547 parking stalls spanning 181,849 square feet, the renovated ramp doubles the existing capacity and was delivered three weeks ahead of schedule. Thoughtfully designed façade improvements soften the structure’s visual impact, aligning it with the development’s broader goal of creating an attractive, pedestrian-friendly environment.
