The relocation of the Hennepin County Domestic Abuse Service Center (DASC) required the design of new access corridors, along with new communications and electrical equipment rooms to provide power, telecom and network services to the DASC suite as well as the future expansion space available. The design concept incorporated many necessary security measures which include space for an on-site officer, bullet proof glass, security doors to the office space, and full monitoring and escape routes. The interior design concept was centered around providing a welcoming, comfortable, and safe facility to victims seeking services to enable them to overcome domestic abuse. In order to ensure that all safety and security requirements were met, the project required stringent coordination with Hennepin County, the Sheriff’s office, and Domestic Abuse Service Center staff.
